I think one of the more underrated items on gun fit is the butt plate. I had such a natural fit with my Merks II stock using the butt plate that Jeff Madison had designed and built, simple, strong and provided me with a very secure fit. The feedback from recoil was so solid, you knew your shoot was dead on call. When I'd changed to a short bolt gun I had to give up the Merks stock, ended up going with an EC stock. I started out with a MEC butt plate, tried a TEC HRO, went back to the MEC, but couldn't achieve that same solid feel. After some feedback from this site, and looking at the G&E, I decided to get one (you have to swallow a little hard). I now consider it the best investment I'd made for this stock. The ability to make small accurate adjustments make it work so well, and I've made many. I am currently extremely close to perfect, but am confident that it's capable of perfect. It is very expensive, but very solid build, excellent craftsmanship, and adjustable to fit most if not every body style. Not a high-power shooter, and not really certain about the ability to withstand heavy recoil. I think its integrity through use of stainless parts would hold up, but it does have a lot of moving parts. This buttplate is not readily available in the States, I think it took 6 weeks to get it.
