  1. Sorry Emma the whole lot went to one shooter locally very quickly and he got a great deal with a whole load of stuff not listed
  2. Sorry Terry but I had to look at your Avatar when I saw what you paid for your scope etc from the NSRA - have you been in tears for the last 15 months?
  3. Calling all those going to Bisley in August! I have been sent an email to say that a caravan at Bisley is available for rent. " I can and do rent out my huge (33ft) caravan. At present, it is available for the NSRA Meeting. In summary, the van has 3 double bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin, 1 bunks) plus large living area and galley kitchen. It is fully equipped with china, pots & pans, cutlery (and glasses!!) etc, and has a full-size cooker; also a gas fridge. Lighting is via a large "leisure" battery (all areas), and there is a porta potty to save the long walks in the middle of the night! Use of a bicycle is included in the rent, as is gas. Pillows are provided, but no linen (though for a fee I can make up beds with duvets etc) The van is conveniently located next to the Lord Roberts Centre. Rent is £220 per week." Anyone interested should PM me and I'll pass on the owners details

  5. A local junior lady has this for sale. If anyone is interested I will pass on her personal details via a PM to you so that you can contact her. This pistol has helped her on her way in this sport and she has just bought a new pistol hopefully to take her to greater heights now that she is shooting for GBR! For Sale FAS AP609 Air Pistol Sold in original box with 2 air cylinders and a gauge. 2 years old Unused since being completely serviced In excellent condition
  6. Not that I've looked at dedicated pistol shoes but I couldn't find a mention on the AHG website. This morning I got a booklet from Musto about their sailing shoes and boots and whilst boots are out I did wonder about proper sailing deck trainers or shoes which have flatty and "sticky" soles for wet and slippery decks which profess to have good lateral stability. See them under performance soles here:- Footwear - Performance Soles
  7. I'll go down to Buckfast Abbey and borrow a beekeeper's outfit! Can I take any orders for Buckfast Tonic Wine while I'm at it - I gather its rather popular up there! Robert
  8. Please don't say it rains at the Scottish

    Wtd: Ammo Safe

Try here - they're a Welsh outfit! Celtic Locksmiths Oh dear I'm going to be accused of advertising again I think mines the PD 7 mid sized pistol cabinet

    Wtd: Ammo Safe

My gun cabinet does not have a separately lockable section for ammo so i bought an additional cabinet some time ago. I bought what was then advertised as a cabinet for 4/6 pistols and it probably measures 15" square (height by width and about 12" deep off the wall. Whilst I can't get a case of 5,000 in its original packing inside it will certainly take about 20k .22 rounds in packs of 500. BTW I'm not authorised to have this much! I'm sure that they do larger or smaller versions of this and I'll try and remember to look tonight to see the make etc.

    Vickers Martini

There may be a market for historics depending on their age but I have no idea how much. At Bisley there are special competitions for the oldies and some trade in old rifles. We had an old Vickers in our club that had had its barrel and stock shortened so that it could be used by yougsters starting out who couldn't manage the weight of a full size rifle. Some years ago, before the historic comps started, we gave a selection to the NSRA on the basis that they weren't worth anything and hopefully they went to Scout Clubs etc as was indicated.
  12. Don't knock BSA Martinis. John Pugsley uses one for all his smallbore shooting and as someone good behind the stock he shoots consistently at the top of any smallbore shooting league table both indoors and outdoors in X class and usually makes the Roberts final at Bisley. The other significant advantage is that they can be shot by both right and left handers so are ideal as club guns. They were also made at the time when the steel used was better than it is today!
  13. Macafee describe this one as of medium risk when MyDoom/Novarg were described as low risk to both businesses and home users Its an email worm and will come with an attachment so [BEWARE
  14. I remember spending all night copying in a program which was double dutch to me and even then I had to debug it (correct the typos!) before it would run. Then something resembling a clock face appeared - then I had to turn it off and go to bed - wonderful My first real foray was when I bought an early IBM compatible PC in late 1984/early 1985 called an Advance 86B, made by Ferranti which was sold by W H Smith. It turned out that the processor was an Intel 8086 which was the same as my then employer had paid hundreds of thousands of pounds, a few years earlier, to have at the core of his wide area network. Disk drives at £250k a throw or thereabouts etc - the girls in the office did their knitting while it took 3/4's of an hour to process after they had entered everything I was quite good at DOS but always hated programming, I liked Lotus 123 Macros Taking work home in those days was like moving house with system unit, screen, keyboard, wide matrix printer, box of cables & manuals and sprocketed paper! Life improved a bit when Compaq invented luggables Anyone remember "Demented Woodpeckers"? - wheel printers attached to word processors - we'd probably compare them to an Uzi or such like. I wish I'd kept an IBM golf ball typewriter - probably be a collectors item by now!
  15. I think this scam was also done a while ago by someone spoofing the Blomberg investment site in the US and got away with a load of money either because the info shown on the website affected the share price from which lots lost and one gained or through a spurious offer for sale of shares taken up by those taken in.
  16. East Coast is obviously a new member and is currently OTT in my view. Perhaps this is just the Amercian way but this is not our way or in the spirit of this forum. He should moderate his contribution and avoid brazen marketing or he may find himself unwelcome!
  17. Neil is of course quite right as usual. My own firm is well protected from where I use the internet. I received a reply from somewhere on Monday regarding an infected email because my email address has been lifted from someone else's machine or the internet and has been used to email others completely unknown to me complete with this worm
  18. I had assumed that the barrel was the important bit but evidently not. When I had my rifle rebarreled it was pointed out to me that it is the action that carries the serail number on an Anschutz and not the barrel - funny I hadn't noticed that in the 12 years of ownership. I appreciate that others may be different Robert
  19. I have now heard that someone has indeed bought the lot, lock stock and barrel as it were! Robert
  20. I heard today that Keith Rowland is retiring after 40 years of target rifle shooting and have just finished speaking to him on the telephone. As you can imagine he has a vast amount of clothing and equipment and of course a rifle with which he has had one of his best ever summer seasons having shot for England. He says it would take days to list it all and therefore has decided that he wants to sell the lot, all in one go and is asking £2,000. Anyone interested should telephone him to discuss matters with him and I can provide a telephone number if anyone is interested, from the forum, by Private Message. Robert

  22. I just wrote a wonderfull contribution but got stuck at the end 'cos I haven't sorted out how to use the new site yet properly! I went for "Help" and when I got back my carefully written and lenghty piece had gone! In future I will write offline and save it and then paste it up on the forum when I'm ready to post it! By the way how do I get to use the emoticons at the bottom of the page and put them in the right place? What is pinning all about? Oh to be an anorak but I'd rather improve my shooting!
  23. A member in our club developed a problem in his right eye and was not prepared to change to left handed shooting and made himself some offset sight blocks which work very well. Whilst I understand that the request is for fullbore I believe that offset blocks are available from Anschutz but at a considerable price
  24. You could have a look at www.fcas.co.ukas we have lost the guy who did this for us and it is very dated :!: Robert
