Hi All

Not very hopeful but we thought we would give it a try, we have in the club an Anchutz 8002 Alu stock 177 Match Air Rifle which was accidently knocked off a table causing the stock to snap near the pistol grip.

Has anyone come across this problem before? can the stock be repaired? or is there someone out there with a spare stock that would fit this rifle?

Can the broken pieces not be glued together, and the grip reinforced with a dowel or threaded rod?

Hi Thanks for the replies,

Insurance has been sorted (paid out) unable to find a new replacement stock it is the aluminium that has snapped very thin cross section not able to repair,

we still have the pieces the rifle itself is in good working order pity to waste

Hi

We had several Anschutz .22 cast alloy stocks of the same type break when dropped. We were able to get them repaired by welding them by a good aluminium welding company. The repair increases the cross section at the thin part a little bit so it is stronger. We haven't had any problems with any of the repaired stocks since.

Like Martin I have also seen Anni alloy stocks break when dropped, it does need a very good alloy experienced welder, but a really good alloy welder will repair it.

A club member, Andy at www.specialistweldingservice.co.uk, fixed my 2213 smallbore stock for me a few years ago. Mine fell off a bench :/ He put a little more meat on it so it would be stronger than it was originally. I also have an 8002 and can say they are pretty similar in this area.

I touched it up with Humbrol enamel afterwards and you can hardly tell.
