chunter177 Posted 13 July 2015 Share Posted 13 July 2015 Hi guys, Got a Mec stock and some rather tired machine screws. They have allen key heads; the heads are tapered; and are generally quite small. Anyone know where to get spare MEC screws from? Thanks, Chris

nicklock Posted 13 July 2015 Share Posted 13 July 2015 Take the existing one(s) out, wander off to your local bolt and nut supplier, hand it/them across the counter and declare "I would like to replace this, my good man!". Teeth sucking will no doubt ensue, but you should be able to negotiate the location of somewhere that can sell them if the first place is unwilling. http://www.ba-bolts.co.uk/ might be a good start; they're in Cheltenham. HWN1011 Posted 13 July 2015 Share Posted 13 July 2015 Hi Chris Just contact MEC they are really helpful guys. Will be less hassle than trying to find one or 2 bolts locally. Henry
chunter177 Posted 13 July 2015 Author Share Posted 13 July 2015 Thanks all! Will try Mec - they were very helpful, but I don't want to push their goodwill! Kind regards, Chris
jonty Posted 13 July 2015 Share Posted 13 July 2015 They are called 'Countersunk bolts/screws'. You will need the thread diameter which will be in millimetres and the overall length including the head and the length of the thread alone. Do NOT overtighten them. This is why they look in poor condition. Jonty
