As far as I can see, the cookie should last about a year, after which they will expire suddenly and without warning. I could not find anything in the microsoft support base about ie 7 specific to cookies, how the answer may lie in installing firefox ;)

Happens to me from time to time and I run Firefox

 

Me too - but frequently just in the last week or so for some reason ?

the only other possibility i can see is the "pass_hash" cookie which expires after 7 days but I have no idea what it does

 

It's not that regular.

 

I suspect that it's something changing at Neil's end (if you'll excuse the expression) because if it happens on my computer at work I know that I will also have to log in again on my home computers.

For me, I have to log in again whenever my IP address changes;

 

i.e. When i switch between using my laptop at Uni and when I'm back at home.

 

At a guess... if you are using a wireless connection, it may be the same for you guys.
