Lens exchange idea (but also looking for a +1.75 diopters 24mm one)

Hi,

After a visit to my optician the other day, I've found out (as expected) my prescription has changed, and the +1.25 lens I have in my Anschutz monoframe (which I'm shooting pretty well with at the moment so a bit loathed to change) should probably be more like +1.75 or maybe even +2.00.

Anyway, this got me thinking. Many of us need a new lens every once in a while, which means a lot of lenses become surplus to requirements that would actually be really useful for someone looking for that prescription. On top of that I've inherited a lot of lenses from former (ie deceased) shooters that are no use to me (or them) which might be exectly what someone else needs. A lot of these are of unknown prescription, but I was hoping to either persuade my optician to measure them for me, or maybe even buy a used lensmeter off ebay to find out what power they are.

So, a) does anyone have a +1.75 or +2.00 24mm lens they no longer need, and b) is there any interest in a 'lens exchange' system where people can get hold of a lens or range of lenses without the expense of having one made?

Thanks in advance,

Iain

The biggest issue will be that most custom lenses will have degrees of astigmatism built in which will make for a huge collection and a small chance of matching someone else’s prescription

If you are handy with a file and a pair of scissors (or junior hacksaw), search on ebay for "uncut CR39 lens". These are made to your prescription for £7-50 (for two lenses) including delivery. Plenty of youtube videos on how to cut them.
