Hi, After a visit to my optician the other day, I've found out (as expected) my prescription has changed, and the +1.25 lens I have in my Anschutz monoframe (which I'm shooting pretty well with at the moment so a bit loathed to change) should probably be more like +1.75 or maybe even +2.00. Anyway, this got me thinking. Many of us need a new lens every once in a while, which means a lot of lenses become surplus to requirements that would actually be really useful for someone looking for that prescription. On top of that I've inherited a lot of lenses from former (ie deceased) shooters that are no use to me (or them) which might be exectly what someone else needs. A lot of these are of unknown prescription, but I was hoping to either persuade my optician to measure them for me, or maybe even buy a used lensmeter off ebay to find out what power they are. So, a) does anyone have a +1.75 or +2.00 24mm lens they no longer need, and b) is there any interest in a 'lens exchange' system where people can get hold of a lens or range of lenses without the expense of having one made? Thanks in advance, Iain

The one I had is spoken for, sorry. I'll have a rummage and see if there's another, but I don't recall seeing one. They do seem pretty easy to make though - Colin's method above sounds like it'd to the trick!

Sorry, been away with work most of the week. The one I have is currently spoken for, pending checks it's suitable. Best wishes, Iain

Having said all that, they emailed right back so I've ordered one. Thanks all!

Thanks for letting me know. I've emailed them so hopefully they'll get back to me. I have been thinking about alternatives though (while conscious that only nsra ones can be used for nsra competitions, I'm unlikely to be scoring these any time soon). Ideas so far are to knock them up in a cad package and get them machined in China. I've not priced this yet but I'd imaging getting a few would work out pretty cheap. The other thought was that 5mm brass rods and 12-13-14mm discs are easily available. Add one to the other, and turn it down to suit. The ~80° angle of the disc as per the regs would be the trickiest part. But 90 is approximately 80, right? 😁

Thanks for that. The NSRA shop seems to be offline at the moment for anything except targets. I found the gauge dimensions etc in the NSRA rule book, so it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility to make some. Annoyingly I was offered, but turned down, a lovely metalworking lathe a few months ago by someone who has since passed away. The number of things since then where a lathe would have solved my problems is unbelievable 😔 I also have a notion to make an electronic gauge, a bit like the TargetScan app, but on a computer. I've still to figure out the best way to build it though.

Hi, I've just discovered the gauge I bought from the NSRA shop a year ago is for 25M not 25Y 😒 so I'm on the hunt for an oversized official/regulation 25Y one please. I'm (probably) going to be taking on some scoring duties, so I'd also be interested in any graduated gauges for tiebreaks etc. Thanks in advance, Iain

Don't know if it's any good to you, but there's an open-source, build-it-yourseld one available: https://free-e-target.com/

There's a Centra duplex iris in this listing. Not sure if it's the same as the thing you're after though...

Could I have the Ways of the Rifle book please? I'll contact dbeerewaldram@outlook.com 😊

If you can't find the real thing, I bought some of these recently. I don't know if it's the right thread for your purposes though, but you might be able to find something similar. sourcing map Round Knurled Thumb Nuts Conector Lock Adjusting nuts, M10 Female Threaded Thin Type, Nickel Plated, Pack of 5 : Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools You might have to turn down the outer diameter a bit for it to fit; they're quite large - 28mm, and you might need to drill some holes around the outside as per the original so you can turn it with a tool (allen key or something similar). Next time I have my rifle out I'll see if it's the ones I've got are potentially suitable.

The original rods and nut have been found, so I'm sorted thanks! I'll give them a go and if I feel I could do with longer ones I'll try making a set with the things I've bought.
-
Thanks, Robin. Funnily enough I ordered some rods off Amazon last night with a view to making up some of my own. As you say, it seems fairly easy - a flat on one side of each rod, and a tapped hole thought it. I've also bought some M10 thumb nuts; I just need to turn them down so they fit between the rods. It would be a 2 minute job if I had a lathe, but I'll improvise with an elecrtic drill and an angle grinder! Hope you're on the mend!

Thanks for the advice everyone. @john campbell as suspected, the home made stand has been taken. All that remains are the Freeland stand and the Far-Sighted and reflector scopes. They're still on offer to club members, but if there’s no interest there and someone here fancies one I can sort out postage etc. Best wishes, Iain

Hi, Thanks for offering, I was after either original length or longer if such things exist as I'm quite close to the limit of the ones that are on it at the moment. I may have to get some generic rod material and fabricate something if I need to Best wishes, Iain

Hi John, I'll let you know if it's still available after tomorrow evening. I think a club member is after the Kowa, which is the scope the stand was used for by the previous owner so it may be spoken for. Best wishes, Iain

Hi, I'm in the process of acquiring a KK500 Expert from a club member who recently passed away. He had quite a strange shooting position, and has replaced at least one of the rods and the threaded rod from the stock Walther butt plate. It may be that these turn up, but I was wondering if anyone had a set, or parts of a set, please. They are items 39 and 40 on the exploded diagram here: https://www.waltheruk.co.uk/user/downloads/KK500_Schaft_Alu_Re_M_2814439_e.pdf The thumb nut 27 is also missing, which I'm also on the hunt for, although I've found a suitable(ish) substitute on Amazon that should suffice. I'm not sure what the 'safety washer' 49 is (prevents the thumb nut from coming off?), but that's MIA as well (presumably with the original thumb nut wherever that is). Does anyone have anything surplus to requirements? Many thanks, Iain

Hi, I hope this is ok to post here. One of our members sadly passed away recently, and left a selection of his scopes and stands to the club. I've been 'tasked' with valueing them so they can be offered for sale (either to club members or on here). I'm struggling to fine much about some of them online though, so I was hoping someone here might be able to help, please. I'm looking for either guide prices for them, or where I could find more info. These are all the photos I have at the moment, and I appreciate I may not have captured the crucial information that is required. I can get more pictures if required. First up is an Opticron MM4 50 ED. I've found these online, new, for £349. However, this does not include the eyepiece which I can't find (and don't have a better picture of yet). Next is a 'Far Sighted' scope. I can't find anything about this. Eyepiece is adjustable from 12x to 36x Third is an 'Impact Vortex' reflecting telescope. Eyepiece is adjustable up to 75x (the other marking I have in a photo is 50x, but not sure if it goes lower - I can check next week). There seems to be a new version of this from the manufacturer for $250. Lastly in the scopes section is a Kowa TSN-82SV. I've found a couple of these on ebay for around £1,100. Eyepiece ranges from 20x to 60x. And finally, a couple of stands. One is definitely a Freeland and one looks a bit like a Freeland Universal stand, but I suspect may be a home made one. It has a quick-release plate and 'twiddly bit'. Any advice / information would be greatly appreciated

Great, many thanks! Sold pending payment

Bump and price drop to £60

Had an offer at asking, sorry, but if that falls through I'll let you know.

Hi, yes they're still available.

Hi, I also have for sale my Varga Merkur shooting frame. I bought it reduced from Intershoot as there was no box with it. I tried them once, but found I preferred the monoframe attached to the sights, so these have been surplus to requirements ever since. Lens size is the larger (37mm) variant (no lenses included), with blinder. Looking for £60 ono including shipping within the UK. Thanks for looking, Iain
