We'll shuffle the sling down and give that a crack. We may also invest in a handstop that is a bit longer than the one currently, this may move the sling down a tad, plus maybe filleting away some of the sling...? It could work out, its a game of millimetres but we would like to have some spare. The ubiquitous club jacket is not the best fit and there is an element of position "slump" after a while. Onwards...

The butt is closed up to its shortest, plus I've filleted away some of the underside of the cheekpiece, this gained another 1/4" or so. I believe I may be out of the stocks parameters, certainly for a junior. The boy is using an old AI sling, funnily enough the previous owner may have had a similar problem, there is a fair bit of chafing across the top, forward of the buckle that would suggest it may have been rubbing. Hi Joe, Thanks for the reply and info. We have one of the old cast Ali Anschutz stocks so adjustability isn't an issue, however my sons short arms are. He has a lovely low and in-line position which would be nice to keep. The stock has a chunky fixed trigger guard, this is the issue for the sling, I may stick it in the mill and machine some away and see if this helps a bit too, failing that, we may put more of an angle on his position and adjust butt plate/handstop to move him slightly more to one side and hopefully create more of a gap. As above, I've been looking for an aluminium stock for a while but everything seems to be for bleiker....! Now moved onto a wooden stock on the off chance that they are more likely to turn up? Would like thumbhole adjustable style stock, thinking the super match free rifle style. Condition not important as it is to be chopped about to fit a non standard action then heavily cut down for a junior, it may ultimately end up as a door stop or kindling!!! Of course....cheap as possible please.... Thanks, Bing!
