If you're not shooting at 100 yards or more, get something not overly expensive, but you've got to get it near your eye so you don't move too much (assuming you're shooting prone).
I had the butt plate extended miles and the hand stop forwards. Had to ramp my right arm over the rifle and weigh it down with my general fat to triangulate the position. Anyway - all change now!
