Continuing on my retirement trail, I have a very special rifle for sale! It is built as a 300 mt rifle, BUT, being in .223 rem it is also eligible for NRA Target Rifle TR events as well!!! The action is a specially built Sportco M44, shortened action, with centre action screw, and front recoil lug action screw. The action is mat black ceracote. It is in .223 Rem calibre, with a new TSE bolt head, special bolt handle, and a new TSE adapter to take a new Bartlein 1 in 8 twist barrel, 640 mm (25") with .223 Wylde chambering. The trigger is a Bix'n Andy 20 gm two stage , (for 300 mt and any thing with a free trigger), plus it also comes with a Sportco TR eligible 1500 gm trigger (a straight, simple ten minute fit). The rear sight is a new Gehmann 590 compact, with Centra iris, and Centra lens hood, mounted on a Centra metric rail, and it also comes with a PH 5C TR 4 click per minute TR sight, complete with mounting bracket, a simple switch, so, a 300 mt free trigger and metric sights, ten minutes and a TR sight and trigger! The front sight is the superb Crystal Centra Cube, with Crystal High End element, and a 0.5 Crystal Eagle eye for TR! (that's £200 of front sight!) Forget the 30 mm TR front sights, you have never looked through a sight like this for clarity of picture! The action is on a special machined alloy bedding block bolted into the stock. The stock is a Keppeler full bore K5 with my own modified alloy fore end inserts to make it as slim as the new K9 stock. Finished in Metalic black with polished alloy detail. The grip is a Walther KK300, the cheek piece is a flat top Walnut wood, fully adjustable in every direction, with my own side folding cheek piece so it can be high, and fold to open the bolt, simples! The butt plate is a Keppeler, adjustable for length, height and angles, with a removable (for TR) butt hook. All complete with a colour matched Mirage band (choice of colours!). The barrel was very carefully run in, and has shot a logged 200 rounds in total, including one 60 shot 300 mt match (just over my average). It shoots superbly with NRA available GGG 69 gn match ammo, and even better including spectacularly in wind, with my special 80 gn hand loads. The sale will include a box of each! Why then am I selling it? It was my lock down project, plus If you look on the General threads for my "bucket list project" that I have just finished, that's why, plus retirement looms, I don't need two the same calibre, and I need the cabinet space!!! It's very special, suitable and competitive, for 300 mt, TR, bench rest, or what ever you wish to do! The pic is not very good, I lost patience with the resizing site!! Incidentally 1/4 UNF, used on Barnard actions screws, and Sportco's, is available at most good fastener companies certainly mine, if any one gets stuck, I keep a small stock for my own use on my Barnards, let me know the length you need, and I can send some. Have Fun Robin

Yes, and Barnard use UNF as the country, New Zealand, is still Imperial, UNF is their form comparable to metric. Australia also, are Imperial, and UNF is their standard general purpose pitch and form ,and compares engineering wise with standard Metric. Their alternative, UNC, is very course. There is no logical or engineering reason why metric fine would be advantagous in these applications, and its primarily used as a machine thread, which is exactly why its very difficult to get screws in it! Then just to cap it, I've just spent ages making a new (full bore recoil resistant) butt plate adjuster for the big bang KK500, I had to make a new adjuster, I had just tapped it out to M10, but it would not go on? My xxxxing tap was M10 "fine"!!! I did not even know I had one! So had to make it all over again! That'll teach me to get involved in thread form discussions!!!! Effing metric fine!!! Have Fun Robin

Tim Do the modern Anschutz actions us the same thread form? I don't use that form, but when I visit my tame supplier next, I'll see if I can get some C/S and cap head Allens in steel M6 X 0.75, and maybe longer, so they can be sawn to length, as people always seem to be struggling to find them. I only pay pennies for what I get. I have one in my spares (no idea where it came from!) that's 60 mm long, what lengths are standard, and would be required? Have fun Robin

Sadly Jim it will be a mega hardware store that stocks metric fine! But a good specialist fastener company will probably be able to get them, but I doubt will hold them in stock. Metric fine is used on some machine threads and some auto motive, but realistically its not a commonly used thread form, and there is no logic to why they have used it. I get all my fasteners from a local company and they've never failed yet, and I've got stock of most common size M's and UNF's, but I'm not an Anschutz person so no M fines, but next time I'm in restocking my workshop I'll enquire, and see if I can get metric fine? Quite why Anschutz chose them is beyond logic! Its on a small bore, there's little recoil, they are stainless, so not mega torque, and there are full bores held together with standard M forms or similar UNF perfectly satisfactorily! Could it be to make it difficult to get else where, so you have to buy from them!! But, more likely some time in the past some one had a cheap stock of them, and they started using them, and they've used them ever since, silly really. Could be worse, Italian motorcycles from recent years, struggling from one financial crisis to the next in the 80's used what ever they could get, half mm thread dia's were often used, I had a Ducati that had all strange threads!!!! Yes, I can review them in that, BUT I can't delete them in that!! And that seems to be the basis the forum uses for determining how much I've used!!! Yes, I can go to posts and delete them in posts, BUT they still stay in the "My Attachments" and I still can't add attachments on posts!!! I'm not interested in using third party thingys, the forum is telling me to edit my posts, but won't let me do it, or tell me how!! So no more pictures for me!! Have Fun

Thanks all, JCS I've found loads and I've deleted loads of pics now, but still the same! I can build rifles and clever engineering stuff, BUT I'm still working out where the coal goes in on computers so that does not help! If any one can help me, I have a similar issue, just its all in one thread. I added pics on a post, later in the same thread I tried to add another pic, it said not enough space. I reduced the pic to what was said was left, and it still said manage etc, so I deleted the first earlier pic, and tried to add the new one, and it still said I had no space!!!! So now I have all my pics deleted, and I still can't add any thing in the post!!!!!!! Does it add up all posts that we have ever done for pics???? It says if I try and edit:- "You have used up all of the attachment space you are allowed. Manage Attachments to free up space." I've now searched back through old posts and deleted at least 6 pics, and it still says the same!! I'm loosing the will to live on pics!!!! Robin

As its says, circumstances have conspired to leave me with an unwanted range booking at Bisley on Range 19 this coming Sat, the 6th May. Its a 300 yd, electronic target, swichable between lots of options, TR, 300 mt, with a gazebo to protect if it rains, and booked for all day morning and afternoon, Booked and paid for (£270!) You have to be an NRA member with an SCC or an NRA club. Make me an offer, its going to sit wasted and empty all day otherwise. James I have tried every route in the UK, no interest, its my bucket list project so I have even accepted it could be silly expensive, and I now have contacts trying in Europe, but I really need to go there. Seems every one who has them loves the stock, and has no interest in changing, sadly I understand as they are a superb stock! And now I'm starting to loose interest! OK calm down, I don't want to buy yours!!! BUT, as an owner you will know that they are supplied with two black oval blocks to mount the iris, these also can vary the height of the sight line, depending on which way up they are mounted. As each block has the threaded sight line hole off centre, and therefore each has two heights One block has 7 mm and 2 mm approx, and the other block has 9 mm and 3 mm. I'm hoping one of you has theirs using the 7 mm/2 mm one, and that the other block, the 9mm/3mm is sat unused in their spares!! Because, HELP, I need a 9 mm/3mm block. Please look and see, and sell it to me before it gets lost!! Have Fun Robin

No longer need one thanks, as the NRA seem determined to restrict 300 mt access to Bisley we decided to move her Precise from the 300 mt rifle to her small bore as a 100 yd sight and get more use out of it! For 300 mt she's gone back to the Gehmann 590. so another vote for that! Have Fun Robin

OK, this started as a pipe dream, Now I'm serious!!!! I'm going to do it!!!! I want to fit a full bore action into a Walther KK500 Alutec stock, problem, I don't have a spare stock!!! It must be a Walther KK500 Alutec, not interested in any other stock, it can be the just bare stock,or a complete rifle less the barrel and action and sights. Please make an old man very happy, and after I've done it, also see the most stunning full bore imaginable!!! Have Fun Robin
