  1. I can give you Harry Preston's contact details if you want as he is the UK Steyr official importer. I did buy Margaret a left handed small pistol grip for my Steyr LP10 but she is not interested in shooting so its redundant but a) I don't know if it fits the LP2 Compact and Its at home somewhere but I haven't seen it for yonks and that's after looking for it a couple of times already. I'll have a look again over the weekend if I get chance.
  2. Why not put more info and pictures on here? PM probably precludes some people from showing an interest which they are more likely to do given more information. For example I have a spare slot and have a mind at some time to take up LSR but its probably a bit early but given the right opportunity and the right gun might move earlier. Ruger standard triggers have a reputation for being disappointing has yours been changed or has it been improved by SYSS? What make of scope, magnification etc? Pictures are a great selling point and tell more than a thousand words. For those not into LSR they may have no idea what a Hogue stock is or what might be special about a rimfire magic stainless barrel. Why are you selling? Are you replacing with better or just want to realise cash from something that is not being used? An idea of price would be useful - What did it cost new and what are you asking for?
  3. You could always add a signature - see your controls section - and this would add your name to the foot of every post automatically - this would save Neil having to update lots of names if this idea takes off.
  4. A lot of forum members are a little shy and like to have a forum name other than their own. A number of us who have been about for a while are happy to use our real names because we know that the forum is closed and not available to the public and that entry is policed by Neil. This is especially good when Neil, Mac, Chris, David, Mike, Martin, Walter and various other creditable shooters are happy not to remain anonymous. This gives the forum greater credibility as their views will be respected, well most of the time anyway, and this must be attractive to the rest of the membership to be able to seek and get advice from the experts. I would like to see more people use their real names so we stand a chance of getting to know everyone better and even have avatars that are actual photos so that we can actually recognise each other and say "Hi" on the range. As a long standing member I still have no idea who some of the regulars are who have obtuse forum names. Is anyone else with me on this? This is also very much encouraged on a similar American forum that I have joined. I am sure that this would add to the appeal of the forum or certainly if some more of the high profile shooters declared their real names it might encourage some of the shy ones to become more public.
  5. I'm no artist but what about a bullseye target in the middle with the silhouette of 4 shooters at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock firing towards the target from each of the prone, kneeling and standing positions and 1 pistol shooter
  6. There are plenty of clubs and counties without websites and the skills to do them and probably without the money to pay someone to do them. This forum could be the answer to that need by:- Having a general area to deal with what is the sport all about etc in a public area before you get to put in your password etc The general forum as it currently exists The potential for public/private areas for individual counties/clubs where they can have their own club forum and post results or whatever This would then help increase the membership but also provide a great service to clubs etc Any views? Robert

Isn't the pistol you refer to called "The Patriot"? I'm not sure it was made by Britarms though - I thought it was a new set-up that designed it and it is made abroad - perhaps somebody formerly with britarms was involved. Anyway it was reviewed in Target Sports a couple of years ago from memory and yes it used nitro powders.
  8. When Neil introduced the voluntary donations last year I put a reminder in my diary to make this an annual extravagance! I can't now find the PayPal button any more to make another donation now a year has gone by. - Has it been removed?
  9. That's the same as mine and I have the same attachments but mine's not bedded.
  10. Just turned 60 and British Sugar are closing their York factory and all the staff will have to find new jobs but this guy can retire with his redundancy package as he's been there for 30 plus years. I think he's spent a bit of in advance on the Honda!
  11. NOW SOLD TO A NICE MAN FROM YORK AT £16,750!
  12. Price reduction - now down from £17,500 to £16,500
  13. My father died in September 2006 having bought this car new from the local Honda Dealer in January 2006. It has only done 700 miles. List price was over £24.5k and he paid £22,249 for it and I am now asking £17,500 for it. My Mum no longer drives and I drive a diesel Volvo Estate so we need to sell it. It is still in garage showroom condition! It is the full Honda Executive specification which means its a bit like a Xmas tree in terms of having everything including Satellite Navigation, Climate Control Air Con, Electric Sunroof, Electric Windows, ABS, 4 Wheel Drive, leather seats, alloy wheels etc It even has a collapsible picnic table in the boot. It is Automatic and I think Arctic Silver (light silver metallic paintwork) with extra paint protection system applied by the Honda Dealer It also has the following extras:- Running Boards, Rear Parking Sensors, additional carpet mats and a boot container to stop boot spillages. Please PM me with any questions or interest. I'll try and post some pics but I had trouble last time!
  14. Richard - send him a PM - he's on here most days from time to time and then you can exchange phone numbers
  15. One could be cynical and reflect that this is a cheap way for Mr Anschutz to "take-out" a competitor manufacturers well performing product so there is one less FWB performing at a high level amongst GB shooters. No doubt it is all being done for very laudable reasons but I wonder how much they are playing on the fact that a nice shiny new article has loads of appeal to a possibly impressionable young shooter. I call to mind Mick Gault who was given a new Hammerli air pistol and despite trying and persevering with for some time, he reverted to his tried and tested Morini for the Commonwealth Games. At this point I wonder if Mac, as GB team manager, might give an analysis of who is using what. Nothing too time consuming just numbers or percentages per manufacturer. I just have a feeling that alternatives to Anschutz are increasing in numbers when it comes to medal winning performances.
  16. Emma - I don't think the intention was to hassle Richard just to find out why he is disposing of a rifle stock that has helped get him where he is today. I think if it were me and I don't know Richard's circumstances I would want to keep the old one until I was satisfied that the new one could give me equally good results and I was comfortable with it but finances and student impoverishment might not allow that. If he doesn't get on with the new one then it will be very expensive to get back to where he is now. Now I'll shut up and wish him well in selling his FWB - I should add that I shoot with an Anschutz stock albeit a laminated one and if I changed the FWB would probably be top of my list of possible replacements.
  17. YES HE DID SAY HE WAS GETTING A NEW ANSCHUTZ The more important question is why? There are some fundamental differences between the two:- The FWB is not an alloy cast like the Anschutz The FWB has a much narrower forend than an Anschutz and that was one of the reasons why Mike Babb chose an FWB stock to house his Bleiker barrel & action. Come on Richard what makes you think the Anschutz is going to serve you better?

Presumably the same rules as before should apply i.e. nothing as big or bigger than 100kb
  20. I have to say that when gun cabinet makers quote the number of guns that a cabinet can hold I immediately think that they mean shotguns (no bolt) or slim sporting/LSR rifles as there is no way .22 target rifles can be accommodated to the number specified. Nobody seems to have made this point but I certainly believe it. I have a three gun cabinet which I just about managed to get my father's air rifle in with my target rifle once when required.
  21. Sounds like a job for a Dremel or even Tom Redhead!!
  22. The latest issue of Target Sports had a box ad just inside the back cover for an LP5 little used due to injury and a fancy divng cylinder for air storage for circa £630 the lot. Sonded like a good deal as the air kit had cost £350.
  23. John Pugsley from Devon has been an X class and GB shot for years and its all been done with a BSA although I don't know what model it is. There are rumours he might be changing but I haven't seen him for a while
  24. I assume that Georgina Geikie's FAS has long since been sold.
