Gemini Butt Plate

Are you going to the 50m Champs in June?

If so I may have one that you can try. I say 'may' - I am picking up a rifle for my daughter this weekend which has 2 Gemini Butt plates with it. I will take a pic of the butt plate and if it is what you are looking for you are welcome to try it out. I won't be selling it but at least you'll know if it suits you.

Cheers

Mark

Thanks all - Mark - who are you if that's not too direct a question!? When are you there (i.e. @ the 51m Champs in June)?

Hi Chunter177,

No problem with the question. I am a pistol shooter myself but have two kids who shoot on the GB Junior Rifle Squad. My daughter's main discipline is Sporter Air Rifle - in fact she's the British Champion (proud Dad moment - sorry).

She recently shot in Oldenburg, Germany as part of the GB Juniors and scored a very respectable 599.8 prone with a rifle she had only picked up twice. So I asked her the question '"Should I be looking at for a .22 rifle for her?" - hindsight is a wonderful thing that I should use more !!

Anyway, we have now found her a rifle which we are picking up on Saturday if everything goes to plan and it comes with 2 Gemini Butt plates. She won't be shooting 3P just yet as she's only 12 and it's a bit too much for her.

So both Abby and her brother are competing in the 51m Champs in June so we will be down there for the weekend. No problem if you want to try the butt plate - just let me know.

All the best

Mark

Sound guidance Jonty. I was hoping to get a go at the ESSU champs but my kind volunteer disappeared though I'm sure I'll get another go subsequently. I've been advised against Tec Hro as the build quality has been poor; Mec was an option. I still feel the Anschutz Armadillo is a bit pants.

Ive not seen a TecHro in the flesh.

The thing about the 'Armadillo' (4760) is that G&E made an almost identical copy of it, and Anschutz have re-introduced an updated version, so there must be strong demand for them.

I like the 4765 too, but my favourite has to be the MEC Free position. Easy to use and looks great. Trouble is, again, not many come up second hand.

try before before you buy is my advice.

I've got 2 of the Tec Hro Fusion butt plates and there's nothing wrong with the build quality!! I've got a 3rd one on the way too..

Iv got techro and mec plates both used regularly there's nothing wrong with build quality. The Tec plate is a bit fiddly to setup but great when done right.

Gemini plates are only really used by us brits. The predominant plate in use in europe is the mec nearly everyone uses it in one form or another.

Ignoring the fact Nicollo Campriani and Henry Junganel use them. They win world cups and things like that....

Not to forget Marco de Nicolo, Jamie Beyerle, and I think Alexander Schmirl. The MEC does appear more often though.
