For info,

Perfectly legitimate to send person to person by Royal mail (parcel force only) ensure cylinders empty and off of pistol itself .Royal mail web site have all details re shippage of Sporting firearms in UK and to abroad. You will be warned that if they consider there are any security issues with package that it may be sent to Northern Ireland and possible destroyed. Also be aware that the post office does not get many sporting firearms shipped these days.

The rules for purchase from a dealer are that it has to be face to face or to your local dealer for your collection. This way it can cost you £25 to £50 dealer charge.

Just put it in the post special delivery and when they ask you what it is tell them it's machine tools. I've sent countless firearms to dealers this way inc sec1. It's perfectly legal and the Royal Mail are obliged to receive and send. What you can't do is have a dealer send a section 1/2/7 firearm back to you in the post it has to go to a rfd.

A couple of years ago the Royal Mail tried to stop firearms and parts from being sent with their services this was challenged and overturned.

There's a thread somewhere on here detailing it all, I think Rutty was the originator.
