Pretty good haul of silverware at the AGM last night - might be more tricky in Gloucestershire!

Why is it I can cut neat holes in the bullseye with the pistol in the club, and then at a comp I can barely touch it?

Transpires that having the rifle phenomenally tight in the shoulder doesn't mean you'll shoot brilliantly!

How are you making it tight out of interest?

I had the butt plate extended miles and the hand stop forwards. Had to ramp my right arm over the rifle and weigh it down with my general fat to triangulate the position. Anyway - all change now!

Get one with a rotating band on the mount such that you can angle it. Also you want an angled eye piece, not a straight one

If you're not shooting at 100 yards or more, get something not overly expensive, but you've got to get it near your eye so you don't move too much (assuming you're shooting prone).

I use a £35 pound scope from ALDI cheap and cheerful does the job

Note to self - test new kit in the range/ in practice - don't turn up and expect to win when you actually can't get your new sights onto the target at 100 yards and have to aim off :)
